Projects are essential for the PCS software, as they can store many settings and files, enabling the user to load them after the software is closed.
The project file contains three files (.pcsprj), which store the project and view specific objects. When the user saves the project, the following things will be stored inside:
- All files and file paths which were loaded into the project
- All window and toolbar layouts (the last used toolbar layout will be applied to the new project as well)
- 2D window position - same scale and exact location will be loaded as it was left
- On-off settings for all items
- The position of the clip frame
When the user loads the project file, creating an empty project is unnecessary.
If some file path has been changed, and PCS cannot find everything in its original place, the project file might exclude the file or be unable to load it. The project file can be corrupted if one loaded file gets corrupted.
- Some users reported that if a DXF/DWG file is left in the project, it may corrupt it. It might be related to complex objects in the DWG file.
- Some users reported that if geophotos are left in the project, the re-load of the project might drop the camera calibrations when the user needs to drop all geophotos and load them again.
